The Drive In - a brief history The drive-in concept was created in 1933. The times were simplistic and as technology chnaged, so too did the drive-ins. From 1933 to 1946, the drvie-in population in the United States grew from 1 to 155 and by 1948 there were more than 900 operating drive-in's. By the late-1950's, the drive-in population has soared to over 5000 venues. Unfortunately, with the insurgence of corproate greed and land being more valuable than the drive-in itself, they closed rapidly in teh late 1990's and by the 2000 there were only approxmately 400 operating venues left in the United States. Growing up as a child, I can remember going to the drive in and watching the movie on those huge screens. We talk to people on a daily basis about how they miss teh drive-in and what fond memeories they have of them. This is where Hollywood Outdoor Movies steps in. We are the only company that has the knowledge, expertiece and equipment to actually host a drive-in. The screen size back in the day ranged from 75 feet minimum to 135 feet wide. We have scrren sizes that are from 40 feet wide for an intimate drive-in to 135 feet wide for a few thousand cars! The difference between then and now is the fact that we can set our theater up anywhere! Be the hero of your community and bring the drive in back to them today!
